5 Ways to Earn Money From Your Code

5 Ways to Earn Money From Your Code

Published at - Nov 12, 2021

Many of us know what “coding” is, and some of you may have developed some pretty interesting projects and have years of experience, but not everyone knows how to generate money with their code.

I attempted to identify the best ways to accomplish it, some of which I used and others of which I did not, but everyone may choose anything from this list and emphasize it.

1. Self-employment (Freelancing)

Freelancing is one of the most common methods to earn money; if you know something well enough (for example, coding, Photoshopping, or editing), you may simply market your skills. It is proportionate to the amount of work you put into it. There are several places where you may begin receiving orders from others, such as Upwork, Fiverr, and others.

2. Course Development

I’ll show you how profitable it can be: there’s a Python course called “2021 Complete Python Bootcamp From Zero to Hero in Python” that has over 1.2 million students, which means that even at the lowest price ($11.99), the inventor of this school will make over $14 million. You may instruct others one-on-one or build a course on Udemy, as I previously demonstrated. Now that you have a general notion of what I’m talking about, let’s look at the negatives and positives.

3. Create a Blog

It doesn’t matter where you want to start a blog; you can do it anywhere and at any time. For example, on Medium, I’ve written pieces like “12 VSCode Extensions That Every Developer Should Use,” “Simple Linux Commands That Will Make You Feel Like a Pro,” “JavaScript Tips to Improve Your Webpage Performance,” and even this one. You may build a YouTube channel and make videos on programming or anything else you know.

If you’re unfamiliar with WordPress, it’s the most popular platform for building websites without learning HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Everyone does it using plugins, and as you may have seen, you can make your own and earn money from it. You need the following skills to develop plugins or themes

  1. HTML

  2. CSS

  3. JavaScript

  4. PHP

  5. MySQL

5. Creating Discord Bots

If you’ve ever been on the Discord server, you’re probably aware that there are several bots with various functions. For example, some are for music playing, while others are for better managing members’ messages, and yet others are simply for fun. If you’ve created a fantastic bot that addresses a certain problem, you can simply sell it on the Freelance Sites I mentioned before or in another way.

These were five different methods to make money through coding, but they aren’t the only ones. Some of them I’ve been using for years, while others are just getting started 😃.

I hope you find it useful and don’t forget to follow me on Medium.
